we carry those bombers at the shop. they look good but i havent used them.
deepwater jiggin is usually best accomplished by using a purpose built jiggin spoon. these are almost always flat with a single 'j' hook or lone treble hook and traditionally have a hammered or painted finish and are made to resemble dying shad/baitfish. these spoons are preferred for deep water because of their rapid descent and eratic action. 15+ feet usually calls for a jiggin style spoon, while any shallower water can usually be effectivly covered by a traditional surf spoon or casting spoon.
honestly, surf spoons and casting spoons fail miserably at most deep water applications.
jiggin spoons are for vertical presentations and casting/surf spoons are for horizontal retrieves.
my favorite for trout is a gold 1/4oz. sprite. once the red plastic tag wears off, i throw it away and pull out a new spoon.
