Speck D, I think the media did "hype" it up, they put info out there that alot of people took for face value, or what it looked like on the cover.

Me and my family went to Destin for a week, the third week of July, and I must say seeing is believing. The beach was beautiful as always, the water was beautiful, as always. There were definitely fewer people there though. This I blame on the main stream media putting out incorrect information, and people not doing their homework and believing them. The economy in Florida should not have had to suffer. I have been going to Florida for 20 years and this year it was no different.

Chris, I feel BP and our government did a good job of getting these dispersants spraying as soon as possible, both knew that out of sight is out of mind, with no oil on the surface there is nothing the media can show to promote its doom and gloom, and people stop talking about it and move on.

Yak, you are right as for the business and economic aspect is concerned, but I feel the enviromental impact as bad as it was, was not as bad as it was being predicted too be!

My 2 cents for what its worth.
