A buddy of mine thats been working his boat for bp just left the house and he had some interesting things to say. According to him, there were 137 boats working for the same contractor as him(parsons).....friday they laid off all but 14 boats. He also said that almost all of the oil is NOT on the surface anymore, they've been finding it 8-10ft down and there is still massive amounts of it in the MS sound. the skimmers they are currently using only go to a depth of 6ft. He also said that since shrimping was opened back up......shrimpers have been pulling up huge tarballs/crude mixture up with their nets, so i'm not buying this whole "not as bad as they originally thought" nonsense. Its still very bad, and its not going away anytime soon especially since they just removed almost every boat trying to clean this mess. I'm still hoping and praying for a speedy recovery of my most favorite place in the world, but its almost a sure bet that bp is going to "paint a pretty picture" just because you cant see the oil on the surface and pull out way before they've fullfilled their promises.
