Several years back We had a black bear sow on our property in Miss just north of Angola that had a radio collar, she had 5 cubs, it was the only confirmed births of black bears in the state of Miss plus it was the largest confirmed litter. We had biologist & DW&F running all over our place. One of the biologist held a meeting with our club & talked to us about the bears, one the guys said what if She charges & I have to shoot, the biologist never cracked a smile & I quote, "You had better have claw marks on your azz" then said you probably still won't be in the clear. I saw her & all 5 cubs, she never knew I was around. If they smell or see you they will leave, unless cornered or she feels threat to her cubs.
