I lived in Louisiana for over 30 years and fished and hunted there when I was there. I now live in Texas for the past 8 years and I still come to Louisiana to fish, but I'm lucky that I have lived in 2 states that have many oppurtunities to enjoy the outdoors and I can pass it on to my children. I am willing to pay the $90 out-of-state license fee (even though it's HIGH) because i know that I'll have a great time and probably will catch some fish while there. I also know more productive spots where I fish in Louisiana (mainly Lafourche, Fourchon, G.I. Areas) than I do in Texas. I have some spots I fish in Texas, but sometimes they aren't as productive and I have to scout others and I continually do it because I'm a sportsman and like the challenge. I only can fish once a month or less on avg. now that I have a young family to take care of and I can tell you that when I go, I'm going to keep my "legal" limit if I want because I would like to eat the fish that I catch. I do practice catch and release at times, but if I go I'm usually going for the fun and for food. I cherish every minute I fish in Louisiana because i know it doesn't get much better anywhere else and I miss the hell outta being able to load up and make a quick trip to "the island" whenever i felt the urge to do so.
A lot of this license stuff started on the other border between La. and Miss. if I recall and that's when the out-of-state licenses went up for hunting and fishing.
