pet ducks

anyone ever had pet ducks before? i had two mallards for years, they make good pets.

even had two speckbellies for a while, they got really mean and would tear up my yellow lab so i had to eat em.

My grandparents have a bunch of mallards, around 10 or 12, that they keep with their chickens. It's pretty cool to go out there and listen to them in the mornings.

Specktator, you better be careful with that, don't have to tell you that the Man will come down on you like a ton of bricks for keeping migratory game birds.:shaking: I would not post on an open form, especially pics that can be used in Federal Court.

No its not in mossbluff, Its a small pond but we got about 20snows and blues 8 specks couple ross geese a pair of every duck plus about 20 more teal and woodducks. Just clipped all their wings so they cant jump the fence but the owls do kill several a year.

We had a dozen or so mallards in our backyard when I was young......I learned to call by listening to them ...they were great teachers

live to fish 01-12-2010 10:25 AM

Ya'll guys do realize that it is against the law to take wild game home while still alive and pen them up right.

They could never proof a thing from that pic

I had some tame mallards in my pond. I loved seeing them take off and then come back and land in the pond. The problem was they would go dabble in the front road ditch and then fly up as a car came by and get hit. The worst thing was they kept dabbling at the edge of the pond and the pond edge started eroding. Then one year we had a family of foxes set up housekeeping and that was the end of the ducks. I didn't go looking for anymore.

SULPHITE 01-12-2010 02:05 PM

the bird is dead...

huntin fool 01-12-2010 04:45 PM

he googled the picture of the bird:shaking:...settle down guys
