Bass fishing beginner?

I want to start bass fishing. What are some lures that I should have in my fresh water tackle box? I have a bay boat and I want to use it more than just using it just for saltwater fishing?

T-Rig or C Rig worm/senko, spinnerbait, crankbait/rattletrap, jig. That's all you need.

Plastic-Texas rigged, and whacky rigged sinkos.

Some of your redfish baits will cross-over, like spinnerbaits, crank baits, and spoons.

Topwater- Your smaller top water baits will work, and get a few Pop-R's, and ZaraPuppys.

Go somewhere you can catch a bunch of fish to boost your confidence in throwing a stupid looking worm and working a slower presentation. (Toleda in the Spring)

watermelon red and junebug plastics

baby brush hog on t rig

weightless fluke

spinnerbait

shad colored cranks

whatever top water plugs you'd like in shad color

That's all you need. You can catch fish anywhere with that

don't buy it from the new Field and Stream in Lafayette unless you want to pay $2-3 more per bait.

that place is HIGH!

You will need to add some stickers to your boat. Then get you a fancy shirt with some patches. Any bass over 5 lbs you will have to call a "toad". And take selfies of yourself holding the bass and post everywhere.

Also gonna need to run your boat wide open no matter what

Kgaspard01 03-29-2016 06:05 PM

Watermelon red brush hog, senko, zoom craw, smithwick rogue. All some good options to start

Ohh yea WAO everwhere "Gotta Make Weigh In Mode"

If your boat doesn't run at least 60 then start tearing stuff out and get a bigger prop for "Tournament Loads"

Power Pole---Better have 2 for those critical high intensity tournament situations

Very Expensive Matching Raingear--- Mismatching outfits are acceptable fishing for trout but you gotta step your game up for Bass fishing.
(Remember only dark color outfits for freshwater, this is serious stuff, bright and loud colors will not be tolerated)

Red culprit worms and Levi Garrett. Now you're bass fishin ol son

Renegade 03-29-2016 09:19 PM

Trick worm, chatterbait and a frog.

I can pretty much do whatever I want with those three.

MathGeek 03-29-2016 09:36 PM

Shiners and small bream work for me.

alphaman 03-29-2016 09:42 PM

Cept bass don't fight nearly as hard. Still are fun to catch though. One of the biggest things with bass fishing is being very accurate with your casting. More important than the lure you use IMO. But to me the best lure to learn with is a weightles senko or a texas rigged craw with a 1/4 oz weight. Berkley havoc pit boss is money.

Fairy Wand - Spinning rod typically used with small diameter line for techniques such as: Drop shot, shaky head, weightless stuff, etc. (Basically how not to catch "toads" but get a lot of bites)

Synonyms: Pixie Stick, Buggy Whip, Babe Winkleman Special, Walleye getter 9000, Lake Erie lightning rod, Bajo Minnow Stick, etc.

Most bass guys make fun of people for throwing them in Southern lakes. FYI
