lets see? a shell bank on a main bayou. oyster shell bottom shelf 2-3 foot deep from bank out 30 feet. shelf falls off to 20 ft deep. shelf lets say 50 yds long. point on each end so you get a good tidal flow either tide direction.
good fishing most of the year. My question is what is the opinion on catching BIG trout on a spot like this on 2nd .3rd sunny day after a hard cold spell?

I wouldn't see why not. I've caught some nice trout in similar areas in the summer. I THINK, somebody correct me if I'm wrong cause I'm still learning, but I think I muddy bottom is better for big trout in winter.

I'd think the big girls would move from the deep holes after a cold front moves out onto the shell shallows where they could be in the water that gets warmed up quicker by the sun . But in close enough range to ambush bait that is in the deeper tidal movement

Can you show me on a map where your "hypothetical" spot is? Lol I mean, since it's not real and all.

You just described one of my favorite red spots on Scofield Bayou out of Buras. A killer for reds on a flood tide between the reef and bank and the leading edge of the reef. Never caught specks there. I was about 500yds inshore of the beach. Pre Katrina.
