Virginia Comes To Cocodrie

With the wind howling the last 7 days and forecasted to relax a little today, I went on the hunt again for speckled trout. I couldn't stand it being canceled the last 4 days in a row so I had to test the waters. The pressure was on to produce for my guests today from Virginia. Local Aaron Matassa had some friends down to sample some of our fine fishing. Kevin and Jack Hussey had never been fishing down here and are usually catching striped bass on the northeast coast. At our first location all we found were white trout and a bull red. Conditions were not even close to being trout friendly but we had some action so I hated to leave. At about 8:00 I made the call to move and I wish I had done it an hour earlier. I started heading west with no idea what next when all of sudden I spotted some green water. In that green water some birds were going nuts. I put the double rigs on and the guys began crushing the trout. It was about 50/50 throwbacks and when the frenzy died I trolled about 50 yards to a sunken island and found some hogs. We put a lick on em and finished up at 11:00 with 75
