Carlyss break in... Guns stole

Our house was broken into Thursday(4/16) in broad daylight while my wife and I were at work!!! :pissed: They jimmied the carport door with a screwdriver and went straight to my gun cabinet and gun rack in the bedroom. Nothing else was took or disturbed. Carylss is being robbed blind right now and CPSO is doing everything they can but they are overwhelmed. DEADBOLT your doors, don't just lock the knob(that's what we used to always do). If it's not dead bolted it's almost as easy as leaving it unlocked. We will be getting an alarm next week, so our house will be protected while we are at work making money for the govt to give to the lazy dope heads that took our stuff.

I'm sorry you got hit, man. And I'm sorry some scumbags got off with all those guns.

eman 04-18-2015 02:59 PM

Do you have serial numbers of the weapons?

Bluechip 04-18-2015 04:12 PM

That sucks.... I hope the catch the scum bags and find your guns.

Matt G 04-18-2015 07:11 PM

Sorry to hear that. I think I would be more frustrated that my personal space was violated more than the stolen items.

Gun safes. It still surprises me how many people still don't have them in their houses.

I'm not blaming you for getting your guns stolen, cause thieves are the lowest douchebags on earth.

Gotta protect your guns these days.

Absolutely, but not everyone can afford a $4K gun safe. But there are other things that can be done also. I know we all like to brag about those certain guns we own-WRONG thing to do! You're telling people what you have in your home. Word spreads. If that's all they took...it's a good possibility they knew what they were looking for before they broke in. Hate to hear that happen. I think home alarm systems are your best defense to protect you home when away.

MathGeek 04-19-2015 04:24 PM

Privacy is the first step in home security.

Yes, you can spend $4k on a gun safe. But there are also lots of options in the $100-$300 range. With a bit of effort to secure them properly, they can slow the bad guys down and make them leave a lot more evidence. Three cheap gun safes can also give them a lot to think about, figuring out which one to try and defeat first.

Dogs are good. As are home security systems. I like systems that incorporate video and also those that alert the homeowner that someone has entered the home. A combination of visible cameras (deterrent) and hidden cameras is a good bet. I like networked cameras so that images of anyone approaching any entrance is immediately stored off site. They have them now that can send you an email or a text as soon as an intruder is detected or an entrance is approached. Costs can be reasonable for a DIY type.

We like to vary our schedules also, so it is pretty hard for a crook to guess when nobody is home. Keeping a car or two in the garage makes simply looking at the driveway misleading.

No household is likely to be able to implement all of these deterrents, but implementing a few will deter crooks more and also make it less likely you'll get hit again if they break in and leave empty handed having left plenty of evidence.

Gun safes can be bought for $1000 or less. Academy has a 36" x 60" safe that will hold enough guns to go to war. The prices of safes go up as the fire rating goes up. I have a 36" x 72" Cannon that I bought from Academy a few years ago. It's in a closet and if they can steal that big SOB then they can have it.

I am offering a CASH REWARD for any information that leads to the recovery of these guns and crossbow. Thanks guys, and thanks to CPSO for the great detective work!!

Glad the caught the POS!

Gun was stolen out of my truck in Breaux Bridge area a couple of weeks ago.
870 Super mag with a 23" camo barrel, ATI tactical stock, Burris FFIII red dot, claw sling and Hevi shot choke.

I built it a couple years ago and it was a turkey killing machine until it was stolen.

If anyone sees it there will be a reward. I tried to attach pics but not letting me.
