opinions on live croaker

What are yalls opinion on using live croaker for bait?Personally I dont use live bait of any kind.I like the sport and challenge of arti's only but I dont hold it against anyone who uses croaker as long as it is a legal way of catching fish.I might give em a hard time but its all in fun.

Ask hunting fool he loves soaking Croker!!! I used it twice in 15 years!!! Only because I was forced to!!! Not one for live bait!!! You don't need it if you can fish!!

Bluechip 12-05-2009 11:16 PM

I usually throw artificial but I will also fish live bait...Live croaker, cocahoes, shad, or finger mullet are my favorite....Don't mess with live shrimp very much unless I have a group of kids with me...

You will find I'm the only one on this site that fishes live bait....;)

Agree 100% that if you can fish you dont need it.Only time any live bait is around me is when my wife or daughter are with me.They just cant do the arti thing.

Fishmaster 12-05-2009 11:35 PM

on some days the only want the real stuff,,, we only use cocahoes the way i see it, it cost .30 for a cocahoe but it pays for it self in redfish and trout...

fishinpox 12-06-2009 12:02 AM

i used to use live bait but never use it anymore . the way i see it is if i cant catch fish on plastic that day then i guess im comin home with out any fish! i like the fact of knowing I tricked a fish intop eating a peice of plastic or metal . plus just sitting there fishing the bottom or a cork with live bait dont do it for me . i hate fishing with a cork also

Pssh...i dont use decoys...i dont use calls either...not my style...

Can't pick up decoys fast enough when your trying to run..and calling gives your location away to the owners...

Im just that goood

Just kidding ofcourse :shaking:

Sometimes live bait can make a diferance between putting fish in the boat or gone empty I,ll use it.But if artificial has been working trip after trip i dont waste time with it.

specktator 12-06-2009 08:40 PM

i use live shrimp when i go to the rigs south of the lake, but never use live on the lake. but im def not against soaking croakers for big sows!

opinions on live croaker

Well, I prefer mine dead and fried mmmmmm mmmm mmmm.

LaAngler 12-07-2009 01:25 PM

I dont like fishing croaker. If it gets so hot that i have to use bait to catch i'd rather stay in the A/C and wait on fall.

We never have to go to livies on big lake, lake P/breton sound goes to shrimp in the summer.

I guess the fish/waterway dictates whether I would fish live or not, if you go down to indian river for big trout you have to fish greenies or mullet
