VBay - Redfish Point
 

So I'm starting to think that they named it redfish point to draw in the novice fishermen. I've worked those banks, and NADA. Does the fishing get better there in October/November like the rest of the bay, or is that point just not living up to its name?

It gets good in the months you mentioned!

Either you aren't holding your mouth right or you are trying when the tide isn't best. If you put your trolling motor down and beat the banks, you will catch reds.

I catch reds on those banks every time I fish them. The tide might not be right like mentioned above what are u using for bait??

Using either pogie or shrimp under a cork. Only tried it three times, and stopped after about an hour each time.

Do you fish the north side or south side of the point, or does it matter? I'm usually on the south, depending on the wind.

When you guys say the tides not right, what's the best tidal position for working the point. I usually fish past the pass, and the tide just needs to be moving for the most part out there.

V bay is usually better on a falling tide.

I fish both sides depending on the wind. I much rather a high tide to beat the banks foe Redfish.

High and falling or rising, just so it is moving. The water needs to be in the grass (but not flooding the marsh). i just fish whichever side is out the wind and try to fish in the direction the wind/tide is pushing in order to stay quiet.

On a falling tide I would start at the mouth of the bayou that goes to the GW Camp. There is a shell bottom there I can usually pick up a few. I use swim baits if the water is ok or chatter baits if its really dirty. If you like to fish under a cork try using new penny gulp shrimp or H&H Baby Bull Minnows tipped with a shrimp in either Black/Chart or Purple Chart. If the wind is strait out of the east, the West side of mud point in Little Bay is likely a better spot to try. Try Buck Point too, its usually good this time of year.

Like you I have only caught there a few times. Only on one occasion did I do well and I caught 2 reds, 4 flounders and 1 trout. It must have been a miracle I thought.
