Inshore/Offshore semi-report

So I finally lucked out and had a friend take me out to the rigs. As luck would have it, lightning from the 10% chance of thunderstorms chased us off after an hour. In that hour, actually, at the very end of that hour, and after a few break offs from the other fellas, I hooked into a solid ling/lemon fish/cobia or whatever you kids are calling it these days. After it blew through a net, and took about 15 runs down at the sight of the boat, we gaffed and boated the 28 pounder! What a blast, and what an unfortunately located thunderstorm. It seemed like the cobia were ready to play, but alas, the weather wouldn't cooperate. We loaded up the boat, and drove to Cameron to hit the jetties. They weren't cooperating, and another storm was approaching. We caught a flounder and ran up the channel to the south end of the lake, and the next heavy rain shower sat on us. No lightning, but a solid soaker. The sun finally came out, but we only had a couple hours left. Of course, shrimp started popping, and we started getting bites about a half hour before we had to leave. We caught two keeper trout and several dinks in that last little bit, and packed up soon after. The cobia produced 8 pounds of cleaned, and as I found out tonight, delicious meat. I learned a lot! Everything was caught on 1/4-1/2 oz. heads, tipped with gulp shrimp.

Many apologies for the lopsided photo. I'll catch on one day.
