crabbing south of Hackberry 7-24-14

Made it to west cove canal/weir (southside) for sunrise. First few lines yielded some decent size crabs and I setup lines for my son to fish. The crabs were large but quick and we missed ALOT with the nets. By noon we had about 2 dozen and the women wanted to head up the road a bit. Stopped at the other refuge pull off on the left (one with the wooden bridge running paralell to hwy 27 but on the east side. Caught another 2 dozen here rather quickly using the rest of our chicken. Fought hard for 4+ dozen decent crabs. Came home to boil and fry some fish and shrimp from another trip. Kids and wife had a blast and that makes it worth it.

Looks good.

Any problems with Alligators going after your bait?

Didnt see a single one at the west cove canal. Seen 3 at the other place and 1 attacked the bait of a guy fishing for alligator gar.
