Nice day

Had a 2 man inshore trip for J-Bar. This is just down the street from my house so I decided to run out of Delta Marina and to the east. We went through the locks and crossed the river into Quarantine bay. I headed north around California point and found good water. Not as good as I wished but it was fishable. The first place was a no hitter but the second place put us on the board.

We had a slow but steady bite all day with a lot if short trout. As we bounced around we found a pair of flounder for the box.

Our biggest trout went 21 inches.

As the tide peaked and before it started dropping the bite shut down. Once it changed for some reason the bigger reds got aggressive. This one hit the cork and as the customer pulled it the red turned and engulfed the Vu Du shrimp below it. We saw all this happen and just the strike was something special to watch. It went 34 inches and weighed just over 12 pounds. It put up a good fight coming to the boat 3 times and running out again. This is what they were looking for.

Near the end of our day I noticed some birds working. As I approached from up wind side I noticed a lot of action in the water. I get a hit and start reeling in the fish. It is not fighting much and felt like another flounder. As it saw me and I saw it the fight began. I handed the rod to my customer as the drag was singing. Either the fish woke up or my looks scared the hell out of it. This hog ran around the boat several times. I lifted the trolling motor, power pole, and the big motor as this fish had his way with us for a while. This 38 inch 18 pound redfish had swallowed the hook deep into it's gullet. With a little special handling and the help of an R&R dehooker I was able to remove the hook with ease and no blood shed.

After a trophy picture this guy was also released to breed and fight again.

This was not a meat haul trip just a lot of action and some good fish. We brought home a dozen trout, a hand full of reds, 1 drum and a pair of flounder. Overall a nice trip.

Fishing is not a matter of life or death. It's more important than that.

Great trip, and a good catch of fish, no one could complain about a day like that.
