I caught the red fish last year and it had these sores on it what you think is the cause of this?

Can't be i just went back and checked the dates that picture wasn't last years like i thought it was. This was taking BEFORE the BP oil spill been a few years now and it was caught at the mouth of the mermentau river.

Could be anything fish like people can get sick. Could have been bit by a cormorant or garfish and that invited infection could be a bunch of things never know.

Wintertime fish? I caught a bunch in Hopedale like that before in February

Yeah wintertime fish have a rough time. They school up in deep holes and push each other against the bottom, structure whatever and fight alot. The color looks like a deep water winter redfish too.
