Canvasback Duck

It was a lucky day when this Canvasback with his unmistakable sloping head and white back came swimming by.

Cool picture Mr. Tom.
Have you ever seen a Crested Caracara in Louisiana?
I have heard that they are expanding their range into Louisiana.
My buddy saw a Bald Eagle catch a spoonbill in flight this year.
Pretty hard to get a picture of that though.
I enjoy your work, much prettier than a mount to me.
Thanks for sharing.

The Crested Caracaras are alive and well in SW LA as you say. I have some pictures on my blog on 11/2013. There is also a picture of a group of about 14 sitting on the ground at one time on May 2012. They were located Pine Pasture Road.

That must have been amazing to see the Spoonbill being caught by an Eagle!

Thanks for your kind words regarding the pics. I am glad you like them.

Best, :)
Tom

Caracaras are hanging out near the airport in lake Charles and near the carlyss airport

Hmm! Caracara's like airports, interesting.
I need to go check them out.
Another ugly, pretty bird like the the Black-bellied tree duck.
At least the Caracaras are not an introduced species, they are expanding on their own.
White-wing doves have expanded into our area and that is not such a bad thing.
Maybe it's Global warming. HaHa!
We sure don't want those Rock Pythons from South Florida.
