Toledo Fail

Well took my first try at Toledo didn't even get a legitimate bite notta I fished pirates cove all the way to main lake to the Indian mounds and nothing. Gonna try again in a few weeks.

AceArcher 02-17-2014 09:52 AM

if you fished this weekend, it was a very tough one all around..

SaltERedneck 02-17-2014 10:11 AM

yes the weather and conditions werent optimal for the lake. my buddy struggled and he never does.

amiller72 02-17-2014 01:19 PM

Had my worst trip ever on Vernon lake also. Wasn't just Toledo.

AubreyLaHaye458 02-17-2014 01:19 PM

My cousins went up there yesterday. Caught one fish and that was their only bite. You're not alone

Doesnt look like the elite had any problems catching on Rayburn.

Purple Back 02-17-2014 01:49 PM

1st place was 5 fish going 35#

Thats ridiculously good.

BassYakR 02-17-2014 01:56 PM

Thats why they are ELITES!

Cripley 02-17-2014 02:14 PM

Yes I'm not a Elite for sure but would have been happy with something

bohunterbiff 02-17-2014 02:23 PM

Sunday on Toledo was rough - fished coves where water temps were 48-49 degrees. Fished slow and weightless. Landed one 2lbr and lost another at the boat. Missed a couple of bites but other than that it was tough.

mako1 02-17-2014 08:28 PM

me and buddy fished Toledo from 11-dark sunday. caught 9. nothing real big.

mako1 02-18-2014 08:15 AM

those arent elite guys either who fished the tourney on rayburn. those are locals from that area who fish tourneys every weekend up there. but yes they are good

huntin fool 02-18-2014 11:03 AM

Alton was the only elite I noticed. However if you ever fished against the 20th place team you can agree they are elite material.

mako1 02-18-2014 12:10 PM

well it is a huge step up from local weekend anglers to the elite level. these guys fish rayburn every week. put an elite angler on a lake he only goes to MAYBE once a year and still put 25+ lb in the boat with maybe 4 days of practice, thats the difference between elite and weekend guys. u expect weekend guys to catch big sacks on a lake they have fished all there life. the pro's go to a lake once a year and still catch 70-100 lb to win a tournament. now thats good.

Agree 100%. And that was Little Alton that won it I Believe. His dad was prefishing for the classic this weekend.
I agree 100% with you tho. Getting to fish side by side with several elites on my home water, watching them discover some of my best kept honey holes, and work them in and out showed just how "good" they can be

mako1 02-18-2014 01:43 PM

So thats alton jones brother or son? I guess he is from texas?

Son, and yes from Texas. Lives in Waco.
Here is him and Brian's bag from Rayburn Attachment 64057

mako1 02-18-2014 08:31 PM

yea wish I knew Toledo and rayburn that good

huntin fool 02-19-2014 01:17 AM

Yep. He knows that lake very well. Surprised to see some of the big names that low. 20th usually pulls some chunks. Can fish a lake like nobody's business. Not just Rayburn.
But you can't win them all.

Wish I'd be at the lake this weekend, should be good.

BassAssasin 02-19-2014 09:01 AM

I'll be on Rayburn Friday. Hope we can figure them out
