River level and Vermillion Bay.

I read in another thread that the trout fishing in VB stays good until the river rises in December. What level does the river have to get to before it starts screwing up the bay? Same in the spring and summer?

I think Once the river reaches 10+ feet is when it starts going down hill. Anything below 10 is good!

Most watch the gauge at butte larose. The wind plays a big factor also. The river could be up 12ft., but a few days of good west wind can do some good. Watch the salinity levels and find clean water you just might be able to hit em. For what its worth the farmer's almamnac calls for a below average rainfall in December. That could just help to extend our time a bit.

I've seen the trout bite stay until the spring rise in March, 9-10ft at Butte Larose usually puts lots of fresh water in the bay.
