Land or boat

My neighbor to my south on my hunting land is selling his tract as he is getting old cant keep up with it anymore.'It would be a great piece to add to my existing land and a great usable investment. However, in order to buy it the laid down the law. Sell the boat to get more land or be content with what I have. I am at my land 4 days a week starting in sept -feb.

Would you sell your boat for more hunting land??

How much land, how much do you own, and how much do you fish? I probably wouldn't do it but I fish a lot

youmyboyblue 07-28-2013 09:51 PM

I own 150 acres right now. The tract I want to buy is an additional 70 acres that butts up to my south and has road and ms river frontage.
I fish a good amount but hunt 10 times more. I would buy another boat to control the itch just not a 50 k boat

Damn thats tough...
If you can still get a boat after the fact that does make a differnece

Land is a good investment and the opportunity to get a section that connects to your existing property isn't going to come up again most likely. I would just think hard about is what you got good enough and how much the extra land would help. How much you like to fish compared to hunting. You could get the land and get a boat that's a little cheaper and use it until your able to get something else.

Sell the boat, buy the land then buy another boat in a year :)

They can make more boats you can buy but not land. Land appreciates boats depreciates. Do the math. You can always sell the land later at a profit. Try that with a boat.

youmyboyblue 07-28-2013 10:18 PM

I would for sure buy another older used boat

fishinpox 07-28-2013 10:42 PM

Sell it! I thought of selling mine , I hardly get to use it as much as I want to.

meaux fishing 07-28-2013 10:48 PM

Sell it then

bjhooper82 07-28-2013 10:50 PM

I would with out a doubt sell the boat and buy that land for 2 main reasons. 1, like sauté said, land appreciates, not boats. And more importantly, what if some a-hole ends up buying it and you constantly have trouble with him encroaching one your property. I think it's a no brainier here if you hunt 10x's more than you fish. Good luck with whatever route you take.

If my case was urs I'd sell the boat get the land and get a gtr tail 16-18x48boat n be done. Then u have best of both worlds and erry body happy

Good choice!! You and your family and friends will enjoy that land for years and years to come. You can always go order another haynie later.

Yep. I'd sell the boat and buy the land too in your situation. Good luck.

Sell the boat, buy the land. Trade huntin trips for fishin trips. Problem solved & you won't have to worry about boat insurance. Bet ya there are plenty that would take you up on the offer on this board alone.

speck-chaser 07-29-2013 09:42 AM

Yep, good choice. As said earlier, they are not making any more land, but boats are always available.

southern151 07-29-2013 10:01 AM

You need to lay down the "law" real good and, she'll let you keep both! Buy her something real nice too!...It always helps to get your way!

All kidding aside, the land is a no brainer.
