Heat wave???????????
Forecasted high in Death Valley, CA today is 129 degrees. The record was set in 1913 at 134 degrees. Airlines are considering shutting down. Vegas...121?? Can not imagine this. But.....the air is dry, right??

Go work for 30 minutes in your attic and see how you feel about that dry heat
|
The air in you attic is just as humid as outside. Desert heat 110 is more comfortable than 90 in Louisiana. But you have to take care to drink water. Your sweat evaporates so fast your shirt might not get wet!
I spent a year in the Mojave desert. I'd take desert heat any day over our humidity! |
Damn global warming...

Ain't much difference in being in my attic and being in my pool. You're hot and soakin' wet either way. |
Its not hot, its summer time;)

Boudreaux and Thibodeaux end up in hell.
Thibodeaux: "Keyaw! Boo, it's hot down here!" Boudreaux: "Yeah, T, but it's a dry heat!" |

used to get salt rings on my shirt out in arizona when hunting quail and rabbit. you had to make sure you stayed hydrated. but 115 in arizona never felt anything like 100 in louisiana.
|
Played some golf in Scottsdale, 110 degrees and windy. Never been so thirsty in my life. Literally looked like I had salt crystals on my arms. Drank a lot of beer
|
Was dove hunting in west Texas one year and temps were over 100 but didn't feel unbearable. Ended up getting dehydrated and never knew it until it was almost too late. Now when I go I drink plenty of water even if I'm not sweating.

I spent a year in Iraq; summer temps were a normal 130 and that sucks when you are wearing about 50 pounds of plated vest and a kevlar helmet. The wind blew a good bit there and it felt like someone was holding a hair dryer in front of my face. I'd still take 110 in the desert over 95 in Louisiana though. To me, dry heat isn't too bad till it gets over 110-115.
