rutherford beach

anybody ever fished any of the canals off the road by Rutherford beach road? went down there a few weeks ago to the beach and it was too choppy to fish the surf and had the kids so didn't wanna stop off the road. I seen a lot of people fishing and crabbing so I was thinking of trying it this weekend. anybody know what they catch? all I seen was a guy holding a gar.

Yea I seen alot of them rolling on my way down there. I went to cameron prairie saturday and fished the so called "fishing area" and it was ridiculous. Grass was grown up and completely overrun by gar

Rutherfords Beach road is better for crabbing. The marsh and canals there are shallow.

Not worth throwing a cast net.
There are a lot of finger Mullet.
Lot of Crabs.
But when water gets hot, Crabs hide.
