Wood ducks nesting

I have a duck box on my pond, we missed the 1st batch that hatched this year, now I have a 2nd hen laying, she flew out the box earlier (or so I thought) paddled out in boat & started lifting the side & heard & saw movement, so I stuck my phone in top & took a picture, she (hen) was still in there. She never left. They shouldn't be long. It's been close to 20 days since she has layed. There's a dozen eggs in thereAttachment 50482

Cool picture.

Wood Ducks are not much into nest building......kind of like Purple Martins. The Martins only put in a few leaves and some mud [maybe 3/4" high].

Thats awesome.

good luck

Hope they hatch. I was checking a few of my boxes and was disappointed. Looks like they dump nested and had boxes of rotted eggs.
Cool picture.
