Cooking with cilantro

When I planted my garden, I had a few extra spots and decided to try some cilantro. Problem is, I've never cooked with it or ever tried it in anything I make

I was wandering if any members use cilantro and how y'all use it to get a few ideas

That sounds good haha .. I wasn't sure if it could be used in stews of things like that

Put that in some fresh pico de gaillo(sp?).

It is best used fresh/as a garnish once cooked it loses most of its flavor IMO. I use it in fresh/homemade salsa, homemade sushi, and tons in ceviche. I bet it would be good on some fish tacos.

Made this a few months ago, taste good with cilantro

Cilantro is best used fresh and added at the end of a recipe. Becareful its pungent and can over power a dish.

Thanks for the input fellas .. I'll play around with it and see what happens

^^^^This is you best answer^^^^

I use some in salsa pico ge gallo

5-6 Roma Tomatoes
1 small red onion
1 clove garlic
1-2 jalapenos or other peppers
6-8 sprigs cilantro leaves
small pinch of cumin
juice from a lime
juice from a lemon
couple pinches salt

Chop all of that fine, put it in a bowl, let it marinade for an hour or so in the fridge and eat on chips.

I WOULD NOT PUT IT IN A STEW

My wife is Brazilian and she uses it on just about everything! Very good spice, just different from what most of us are used to.
