BL public land.

What's public around BL to hunt ducks? Is the back canals in joes public? Wc? Cuts off oyster bayou? Always wondered this.

all the marsh around the lake is either private or sabine nwr. You can hunt some but not all of sabine

Cuts off of wc are probably Sabine.

If you can find them stacked up in Bayous or canals that are considered "Navigable Waters", then you can hunt them. "Navigable waters" are, by definition, public. Kelso Bayou would be considered "Navigable waters". That being said, you shouldn't go into a place like the LNG canal with a gun and start shooting. Now that doesn't mean you can go sit in Kelso Bayou or something and shoot the ducks in the private marsh to the side of it and then walk in there and claim them. That's still trespassing. You would have to kill them on the Bayou.

Now I will say this, don't quote me on any of the above. While I did take a couple of classes that pertained to environmental laws (such as "Navigable waters"), I'm not a lawyer. But that is what I know of that. Same reason you can float the Calcasieu or Sabine River like some guys do.

West cove marshes are all part of Sabine, Joes coves are private down the canals.

You can hunt on Lake itself...just sit next to land and hope something Flys close by to shoot.. i could of kills lots of birds out of my boat this year

Seriously, what - if anything - would be illegal about wading (just to be nominally more hidden) the lake with decoys and hunting ducks? Or in a boat blind just offshore?

I certainly understand it would be trespassing if you picked a bird you killed on land.

I don't think anything as long as it was a navigable waterway before LA became a state.

All of the south bank of west cove is owned by Apache Corp. All canals on Oyster Bayou marsh is private as well. Remember, you don't need any "Posted" signs as a landowner in LA...
