Crabbing in PAC questions

Headed to Point Au Chein tomorrow to try a little crabbing. Never been there before. Are there any decent places to crab without a boat? Any weirs or culverts accessible? Will be coming from the montegut side. Thanks

There are a few places, you can crab by the game wardens camp, you can take a right onto isle jean charles road and crab along the road and off the reserve dock.

Not sure what you mean by coming from the Montegut side, that's the only way onto PAC unless you have a boat. You can't get there by car any other way.

We use hand lines in that area, turkey necks on the end of a string. and scoop them with a net.

Thanks. Do you need a WMA licence to crab like you do when hunting on WMA's?

If PAC is a classified as a WMA. I would say yes. I know when you go fishing in Big Alabama in Sherbene. You need a WMA stamp. Check with other people say also. Good Luck!
