jchief 04-17-2013 07:42 PM

I think most people against the bill took the stand that "this is just the beginning of registering all guns"

It's more regulation on our gun purchases, it's incrementalism. Further registration and checks on online sales or personal sales will not make a nickels worth of difference and won't thwart the attacks by people who are willing to carry them out - they are trying to capitalize on people's fears and emotions to push their gun control agenda.

It's easy for people to push things like this through in the wake of a tragedy - people feel better about themselves when something is "done" under the false premise of correcting a so called problem, when registration and background checks have nothing to do with it.

Real problem solving and prevention legislation (if we want to force citizens into something) would look something like mandatory concealed carry for all citizens with half a brain. For those that have weapons and aren't mentally sound.... Good luck popping some rounds off in public.

Yes and it's easier to focus attention on this than facing the real problems we have...who is going to care about a background check when inflation eats us alive
