Rockafeller

Has anyone been to the refuge recently? Im about to start my 14 off and looking for reds and to do some crabbing. I saw that the weirs were wide open dumping fresh water in. Are they still dumping?

Girl at work went to rollover Saturday with her family and they caught 3 1/2 dozen and it was cold... They should start moving better with this warm weather.

Did they crab from the road or go out in the boat? I've never been out of rollover but see people crabbing from the road all the time.

I'm a bit curious about the fresh water also.

Here is the salinity just to the west of of the rollover

I'd say it's pretty fresh....once we start getting the spring south winds it will pick up. When I went about a month ago the east end locks were open pouring straight fresh water into the salt side. A good flush will only do it good in the months to come.

Not sure but I think they went in a boat.. Rollover is easy to navigate, it's one canal all the way to the gulf.

Nice graph...wonder what the normal salinity would be on that graph.

Montauk17 03-05-2013 07:55 PM

Summer and fall it will go anywhere from 8-15ppt depending on rain and winds.

Yep it was over 10 in December before all that rain

Wow! Safe to say that lack of salinity would carry over past Rollover into the east end area of Rockafeller? The wiers area? Also, do you have a websight link to that graph? Thanks.
