gps depth finder

Need input on a gps combo, any ideas will help. Brand, options, price range $400 to $700. Big lake and a Toledo bend area. What is the best thing you like about yours?

I have a Hummingbird that came with my boat, and I don't care for it.
Garmin makes a great GPS and Lowrance makes a great depthfinder.
Wish they would join forces and make a great combo.

For a combo look at the garmin or lowrances. Garmin also has refurbished units on sale right now with warranty.

How can you look at those? Website or something?

I don't like the combos. I have a Lowrance depth finder and a handheld GPS. The Lowrance is awesome. I've used it everywhere from Lake Erie to Ohio Reservoirs to 400+ ft deep North Carolina lakes, to NY reservoirs, to MI lakes to Colorado reservoirs. And yes, I've tooled around Big Lake, the Jetties, Fourchon and Timbalier Bay, and even out to E. Timbalier Island on a very rough day. It's tough and accurate. If this one ever breaks, I expect I'll buy another Lowrance. I'll have a look at the ones that incorporate GPS, but I may keep the two features in separate boxes.

I'm in the market for one also. I was just going to go with a stand alone depth finder and use my handheld GPS, but I recently saw the Lowrance elite DSI combo. It has a feature called "Track Back" that lets you scroll back on the depth finder to some structure or whatever, and you can set a waypoint on the GPS so you can go directly to that spot. Seems to be pretty cool. Anyone know abut those?

Spend the money and get a Lowrance HDS model. I can pm you a number to a field rep who sales them at a good price.

Can you pm me the number also. I just bought the 7 package to put on dash. Going order a nitro in morning and want to put another one on bow.

Pm me the number also. I just put a hds 5 in and what something bigger. I find it is hard to read going across a choppy bay while in split screen mode. I'm thinking about going with the hds 8 or 10
