Big Lake 10-19-12

Got away for the weekend and was able to spend time with good friends and a margarita machine. Stayed at a camp on the east side and made a couple trips out to enjoy the beautiful weather. Thursday morning wind blew pretty hard so had to find shelter from it. Friday morning we found shrimp jumping on east bank and put the hammer to them with Topwater. Fish in picture were caught Friday morning. Used pink skitterwalk and bone. Fished top until wind started to blow then chased shrimp rest of time. Off water early everyday to get back to camp to enjoy cold ritas. Water was muddy down south including west cove. Midlake area looked good out of the wind. Birds everywhere but boats fishing the birds were crazy. Full of small trout and sand trout. Better luck if you can find some calm water and look for the fish chasing shrimp.

Buddy in 2nd picture caught a trout and red at same time on the skitterwalk. He was hooked for life on topwater after that.

bottom pic is our evening booze cruise in my boat. Fish on the dock is from Friday morning- 2 boats. Saturday was also a good day but cleaned fish late and did not take any good pics- Saturday was long day- fished in morning til 9, got back to camp and cooked ribs, watched LSU while drinking 10 gallons of Ritas, made evening booze cruise and was able to pick up 37 trout Saturday evening with 6 people in boat- Now that was funny to watch.
