Mathgeek help needed!
Dude why does this work?
Think of a number double it add 6 half it take away the number you started with your answer is 3???? Can u explain? |
All you are doing is halving 6 each time... run the equation using 0
|
.????? Crazy , it sure works.

It's pretty simple. All your doing is doubling the number then adding six. By halfing it, your inversing your doubling to give you your original number again, but with half of six which is three. So once you take your original number away again, your left with three. Hope that is clear enough

Here is how/why it works (depicted algebraically).
Let N represent the arbitrary number picked. Double it: 2N Add 6: 2N+6 Half it: N+3 Subtract the number you picked: N+3-N=3 Hence, three is always the result. Hope this helps, Tom |
Damn I feel like a dumb behind!!

hahahaha! People use to ask me the dumbest mathematical questions that were easy and when I'd answer them they would call me rainman! Bad part were these guys were dumb as rocks!

Think of a number (1)double it(=2) add 6(=8) half it take away(=4) the number you started with your answer is 3???? FALSE LMAO

I often say I'm not very good at math, but I'm good at google.
See: http://www.ign.com/boards/threads/th...ith.198140350/ This discussion has the same reasoning as the discussion above. Good times. |
