Prop questions
 

I have 18x42 weldbuilt tunnel hull with a 2000 model 40 mariner that has a touch from the Cajun Christian. I was running a 3 blade 15 pitch with a little cup and loved it but it got busted up some how in lacassine reserve last year, so I got a 4 blade 14 pitch with a little more cup for better hole shot.it seems to be running at pretty high RPMs still It killed my speed and my ability to carry a load and I'd like to get some of it back. Do y'all have any recommendations?

That 4 blade is killin you... too much drag for that 40

Would adjusting the pitch make much of a difference?

You can try my Yamaha prop. I got a 14 pitch that's a true Yamaha and a power tech Yamaha imitation that's a 15 pitch that "Lou" worked on for me. Danny said the true Yamaha will always outrun the power tech. Just go get em from my house and you can run em both.

But don't let Doug cup my props just for fun on his trailer hitch with a ball peen hammer. I said hand run them props

I run the true Yamaha 14

I think I wanna switch out that 4 blade it ain't worth a crap accept for gettin up in places to shallow for fish to swim

I'll take $175 for it. It's too much prop for my tohatsu 40. It was originally on a "tweaked" merc 40. Try one first and make sure. If u need to try mine that is fine also.

Ditch the 4 blade, get a 3 blade.
Just put that 15 powertech on a buddys merc. Runs much better.
