Tree Removal

2 Attachment(s)
Hey guys, I have a big V-shaped oak tree next to my house and it's finally about to crack. I gotta get it gone before it crushes my house and the one next door!

I've never had to have a tree taken down does anyone have a general idea what it usually costs? And if anyone has any good references for a tree service near Sulphur, I would appreciate it! thanks in advance.

Stevens Tree Service in Sulphur.

Ain't cheap. There is another one that a friend of mine works for. Can't remember the name right now. They used to be the cheapest.

Adams I think.

I have used this guy twice.... Always did me a professional job but like Jude said, it wasn't cheap. It just depends on if he has to bring his crane truck in or not but with that crack I doubt they climb it.... I would guesstimate $2K...

You looking at about 2K to take it down and cut it up. Being above the house like that cost more.

Sell the fire wood. About $110 a face cord, might alter the cost.

Throw a logging chain around that bad boy while you sort things out !!!

That does not look good at all :shaking: ... See if you cant find a heavy duty come-a-long and get a bind on things... All I have is a lightweight cable one that you are welcome to, but it wont do much good ...

I used Bob's tree service out of Church Point. They ain't cheap but they're the best. They have the contract with Oak Alley Plantation and LSU to manage all of their trees. Bon's son has a masters from LSU in Urban Forestry and he could save that tree if you had the financial resources.

thanks for all the help guys, I'm still calling around getting estimates to get it done ASAP! I called Adams, nice ol fella came right over... $2k. y'all were right on the button on cost... called discount tree, no answer at all.. called burns&mclachlan.. no call back from them :/

got Ripley's comin in the morning to look at it. I'll call Stevens and a few others in the morning.. any other names y'all recommend??? and oh yeah, I'm a cheap azz, so I'm tryin to get it done cheap as possible. LOL heck, I'd even do most of the clean up myself, if they just get the big stuff.

Possum's Tree Service, they are licensed and insured, and most importantly certified, not sure of the cost, but with me being a former Aborist, you may want to consider that with your situation, or if you go the cheap way, well hope they get lucky and dont mess up.

Yo cuz, I gots a license to drive a truck, insurance on my truck, a long rope and chain saw dat runs most of the time..... what time you want me to start virgin:smokin:

You may contact your insurance and see if you can file a claim before you cut it and if they say no ask if you can after it falls on both houses.... they may surprise you since its cheaper to remove then fix two homes

budndawn 09-28-2012 06:59 PM

I tried that. They told me to call them after it fell. Go figure....

Last weekend he didn't touch that saw the first time. It was my fat butt cutting the trees up so we could burn them and that is a sorry piece of crap saw he has.
It is just like its owner.
