Textbooks at university stores are such a racket. You are much better off buying through Amazon or other online textbook stores. By the time you buy a book at the bookstore and get money back for them at the end of the semester, you can buy from Amazon for cheaper. You can then sell the books back to Amazon.

Buying textbooks from a bookstore is asking to pay too much. Go to dealoz.com and search there. I would get all my books from there for a third of the price

BIG RED 1983 08-20-2012 01:18 PM

last semester rented 2 books from chegg.com for under 100 bucks and got 2 books on the ipad for about 80 bucks so from now on i will never purchase another book rental for me

Yep, I just spent 200 for 2 classes at ull, and I still have to buy books for 3 more classes tomorrow.

UL use to have Follet's which I thought was a little cheaper but they closed. I got burnt buying online once so I quit. Almost all of the upper level accounting books are the loose leaf type where you have to buy a binder and put the loose sheets in. Bookstore won't buy these back! They're usually torn up by the end of the semester.

$212 for one stupid Chemistry book at McNeese I shelled out this morning... I'll never need this book again either.

I use to buy old editions for really expensive books. There use to be a website that said what books had major changes, and which ones had minor changes and the old version was acceptable, but I can't seem to find it. One book I bought the edition change was they added a single "Info" page at the beginning and changed the pages number up. No other changes could be found.

A buddy of mine takes all the same classes. We were thinking of just sharing books; but prof. said that if you do not have your own book, don't bother coming to class. Also, if you have a xerox copy of the chapter, you need to bring supporting doocuments to show that you actually purchased the book!!! CRAZY

That teacher more than likely took part in editing that book and wants to make sure people buy it.
