Gasper Master and I made our first trip to the lake in our own boat. We had both only fished the lake a couple of times. Decided we would give it a try so we left around 4am from the Laffy area and made the trip.

We launched out of Spicer's and made the way to some rock jetties in the ship channel. Ended up putting 3 trout in the boat in an hour, one on topwater other two on plastic, we were wasting time so made a move.

Next we went to a spot I fished previously looking for some reds while the tide was still moving. All we caught were a few croakers and one good trout. Not sure why we didn't get any reds may try to fish this spot again on the opposite tide to see if that is trick.

After that we worked over an area that held some flounder and caught a 5 or 6 random flounder on some gulp swim mullet.

Next we went after the trout again near a cut in the ship channel. Ended up having allot of throw backs and we were culling through the trout until a storm started heading our way.

Not a exceptional day but we were pleased with our results and ready to use the info we learned to improve on our next trip.

You keep up this thinking and you are destined for success.
