i have been hammering on the tx chicken devil...love the action but the hook up ratio is not as good as bait with 2 treble hooks .

Only place I saw them had them for $9.50 to $13.00 depending on model. Where are they $8 at. For the price of 3 Corky I got 3 Kick A baits, a pack of Bayou chubs, a pack of Wedgetails (free), jig heads to go with the soft baits, and some change left over. Not to mention I got to support a vendor sponsor.(Real reason for the purchase, I have boxes full of Mirrolures and only pull out two on a regular basis, my Texas Chicken or Electric Chicken and sparkle beetles always seem to work for soft plastic)

I was looking to get a Corky but I just couldn't justify the price, I guess I will just have to see someone smoke em with a Corky or find a place that sells them for a reasonable price.

I throw it late morning when fish stop hitting plastics on bottom and start slapping at tops not really commiting to a hit on the topwater plug. Tie on a corky original work it like a topwater about 6" under the surface and WAM there you find a dedicated strike.
Will they work everytime or all the time probably not but this has been my experience with them. They are great baits that you can fish all kinds of ways very versatile IMO

A slow sink maniac mullet will also do wonders on trout when worked just under the surface. Here's a nice trout caught recently on just such technique.

Box full of baits

I have a wide range of baits. No one bait will do it. After 30 years building baits, it comes down to confidence in the lure you throw and how you work it. Take Tidal Surge, awesome people and world class bait. They work! But so does a corky, mirror lure, rapala, spook, top dawg, uh... get the picture. I love em all. Thank God for all of em building great baits.

The fun is seeing what will work next. More baits, more fun.
