Who is in the hot shot business?

What yall take on this side job hustle/side job (For me). I work full time 630a-230p Monday-friday off on weekends a holidays. Will it work with this schedule?

I'm working getting my own flat bed truck. But as of now I'll be driving for a fiend of mine.

If you can get dedicated afternoon runs would be fine, But most hot shots will take up more time than you have.

I'll pay ya to Chunk birds over here in Lake Chuck but it doesn't pay too well.:) Have you thought about hanging out a shingle to teach kids how to do all that jumping around your so good at??? I would stay within my sphere of influence to maximize what you can charge your clients. There has got to be a need for your services; personal trainer/ jumping bean instructor.

Man I have been in the hotshot business for six years now and I can tell you I have seen all kinds of guys try what you are talking about and very few have had any luck with it. It is a 100% full time job.

What your saying is, it cant be done on the side. for instance, helping u out say u need a driver bc xyz. I could make that run for u. Is that possible bc if not I'll cancel my plans.

If all u want to do is drive someone else's ride part time when they need a driver maybe you can make that work. But if you want to make money you need to run a bigger truck and own your own. For example a pickup truck run to Cameron may pay the owner of the truck 160 bucks. Most owners won't give the driver but 20% of that. You would be better off flipping burgers at burger king. Now prices do go up as you go up in truck size. But the biggest truck most companies will let you jump in with no driving experience is a 1 ton and the pay isn't very good with one of those.

I am buying a 1 ton in the next couple months to do the same thing. Much nicer to be your own boss.

I will do like my uncle does....make one long run out of state a week and fish and hunt the rest of the time. I already got a killer deal on a barley used 40' float.

I have also been thinking of doing some hotshoting, my friend does this with a flatbed 1 ton and makes $2000 to $3000 a week and runs in state, every now and then he will go to Texas.

In my previous job I did some buisness with a fella who told me not to call him if he had to go further than Morgan City (from Houma). He said he had enough buisness just in Houma making 7-8 runs a day.....some on the same truck that he didn't need to go very far.
