GI surf fishing

Im headed south today for a snapper trip but wanted to try some surf fishing before and after. I heard from a friend that Elmer's will be closed all week. Where else do y'all recommend going in the area? Tia

Bump dat. No luck at park... any other suggestions

eman 06-04-2012 12:47 PM

Surf at park has been a late afternoon till dark bite. Mornings have been dead.
Tide should be low so walk out and fish up against the rocks and the ends of the rocks w/ top water .

Did they say why Elmers will be closed? Happens occasionally, and I know they plan on fixing the road, but I wouldn't think they would do that right now. Peak season.

Elmer's is closed because they're filming a movie there. Was still closed when we passed the entrance this morning.

TheLongRun 06-05-2012 06:21 PM

Ah yes, I heard Ah-nold was on the island this weekend.

We passed all the movie trucks and trailers in leeville when we were heading home sunday.

I'm headed to GI Friday through Sunday to do some beach fishing. If I can't catch em on plastic I'm surly gonna cheat, I haven't met a trout yet that can resist a live shrimp!

Arnold S and Sylvester S are supposedly shooting a movie on Elmer's Island called "The Tomb" :)

MattMigues 06-06-2012 12:21 PM

Dang, hopfully they are there sometime. I'm staying at Rickey's Motel, and there's a lighted pier on the bay side for guest only maybe we'll get lucky and catch a few there.

Dink 06-06-2012 01:09 PM

Youre staying at Rickys on purpose? Or was everything else booked? If the beach us bad, theres always snapper??

MattMigues 06-06-2012 01:35 PM

Sounds like a bad decsion? Yea I booked there. I'm not hauling my boat, just dry clothes and tackle, and of coarse cold beer.

eman 06-06-2012 02:45 PM

Ricky's would be my choice only to keep from having to sleep on the beach.

MattMigues 06-06-2012 02:51 PM

Well it's already booked. I'll call it a learning experiance.. Now I just need to get on a few fish!

Gasper Master 06-07-2012 09:16 PM

I'll be going there the last weekend in june, and again two weeks later. Where is a good place to castnet bait?
