I have no idea how bad? Motor ran like a champ from the orange boat ramp to I-10 then died. I got it started but when I would put it in gear and give it some gas it would die. I went last night and bought a new tank, hose, and fittings. The fitting that I bought for the tank was for an evinrude, but the hose won't snap and stay on the fitting. I used my old tank today and when I got home I noticed some cracks around the area around the base of the fitting on the tank?:spineyes:Im thinking of just making it an anchor!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't even have a pole in the boat. I went just to run the boat. I thought it was good until it died. My little e-tec went to e-junk! Its still under warranty so I'm putting in the shop.

I bet it is your fuel pump, I know of 2 25hp E-Tec motors that had this problem

Do you have a fuel filter/water separator on your motor.

I have a filter but no water separator. I think I will invest in one. I will be getting the boat to the shop this week.
Thanks for all the info!

The reason I was asking was a guy at work has a 25hp etec and Lake Area Marine told him the fuel pump wasn't strong enough to pull fuel through a water separator. If you had one, I was gonna suggest that maybe your problem.

I had the same problem with my 25 merc, the problem was the fuel line inside the tank was cracked and sucking air, not getting fuel from the tank. Put a new line in tank no more problems.

I was thinking about that, yesterday I pull the line out of the tank and the fuel stayed in the tube. When I would tap on the tube the fuel would drain out back into the tank???

BigChaf 04-23-2012 02:22 PM

It could be getting air in line and losing suction.

Well looks like its to the shop we go! I came home today it started up first pull and idled fine. I looked at the engine management module and one of the LED lights is on for sensor fault. I sure hope its a speedy recovery!
Thanks for all the help and ideas.
