What size do y'all typically use? Aluminum or stainless? Any particular brand?

Aluminium and 105 or 110 qt. Brand?, I'm not sure.

Stainless and I dont know the size but it will do 1 sack at a time.

80 quart does up to 40 pounds.....which should be more than one sack are they are tiny....

I have a 180 aluminum that will boil 2 sacks with all the fixens easy!!! I do boil for people all the time.

I got a 60 qt Al pot. To cook the bugs good, max. is about 25 lbs.

30+ lbs will fit in the basket.....but it takes a little longer to bring it back to a boil.

I can boil 30 to 35 large crabs.

I used a 100 qt Al pot this past weekend. I put ~ 40 lbs each batch and probably could have put a little more.

I like a smaller pot. Takes to long to coil the water in a large. Also, if you do a whole sack at a time, the crawfish end up getting cold before you can eat them all. I prefer to do smaller batches for that reason.

I prefer doing smaller batches also, it takes longer but thats more beer or whiskey you can drink while cooking!!!

I agree 100%. I use a smaller pot when it's just me the wife and kids. It will do 25#. If I have a lot of people I use my big pot which will do a whole sack. I prefer to just cook with the small pot. The big one is WORK.

I use Aluminum cuz its affordable. If you can swing the stainless, get it...Will last longer and retains heat better. I use a 60qt for small batches, 100 qt for a sack at a time or a big run of crabs, and a Randy Topher (out of Eunice) pot I put on my utility trailer for larger boils.... 200 pounds crawfish max...150 lbs most efficient...But he makes one sackers for efficient smaller boils...

Crawfish Pots
 
Never thought I would spend $700 on a boiling pot but after seeing one of the Blue Bug boilers in action I'm thinking about it. Had a friend get burned while trying to pull the basket on a 100qt (No alcohol involved, slipped on the wet concrete) been scared pulling the basket since. Saving a trip to the burn unit is worth it.
