IMO.. Stick to a PPO not an HMO.. Almost all insurance companies offer both plans..

Blue cross thru the state. DO NOT USE IT!!!!!
Unless it's something that can be cured w/ a few shots or pills they don't want to treat you . They are all about saving their money.

Most plans allow you to add you children immediately after birth.
It's basically automatic.
Most plans are phrased " child or children" meaning the coverage is for all children.
The cost of adding 1 child is the same as adding 5 or however many you have.
Deductibles may be Peterson or per family; this effects premium.
I'd call ur HR rep and get the details asap.
If ya got more questions call me.

L, it will be cheaper to add to your group policy since you already are paying to your other kids. The new healthcare law has eliminated the co-pay policies for children, nobody will offer them any longer. Your only option will be a high deductible plan ($1,200-$3,000) which will kill you if there are any problems. PM me if you have questions but get with your HR dept first and let them earn their $$$.

Raymond helped my family with our insurance needs. He did a helluva job explaining our policy and coverages. I wound up with Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Granted, I have a high deductible but, as he said, if they don't have anything major right after your ded starts over, it's not that big of a deal. That being said, this is the first year that I haven't had a kid getting tubes in their ears by Jan. 5th! It was sure nice not to get clobbered straight out of the gate this year!!!!

I'm about to have our little one also any day now..... I have Blue Cross/blue Shield of New York through my employer ... My wife lined everything up before hand that way once the baby is born all we have to do is call and add her name once she is 24 hours old....but she is covered at time of birth thought me....

Once you get the SS# you will just have to call and add that info...

Make sure you also change all your beneficiary to your baby if its your 1st ( if you want too)

Children under 18 yo cannot be named benificiaries, you must declare in writing for the benefit of a minor child. Normally this would be a close relative that you trust unconditionally or a parent.
The Supremes will rule ACA unconstitutional in June but there are triggers that get pulled even with repeal. Think of it as a computer virus that gets activated by opening a file. Check out hotair.com for info on the real cost of ACA, more like a trillion over 10 yrs.

That is what I was referring to, get a will and list and dependents in the will to be the heirs. Not an attorney but they cannot inheirent (sp) as minors.

PUREBAY2200 04-10-2012 05:58 PM

Raymond is right.
It has to b done as a gift to a minor thru a trust.
This comes up a lot in estate planning.
