Leases near Ville Platte

I'm graduating next month and most likely going to move back home to work. I'd like to start looking for a lease and get to know a few people in that area and see how they did in the rice fields last season. I'm not above driving an hour or two from the area but I also wouldn't mind something close to the house. I've had just about enough of public lakes and really want to get into a decent lease. I won't be on a student's salary anymore and I feel that an alright lease may be within my reach....hopefully.

Any of you guys hunt out that way?

My cousin hunts in Whiteville and it was pretty slow this past year. They did pretty well on geese though. So tough to find a good lease around that area b/c people that have a good blind been having it for 10-20 years and aren't coming off of it. I know one place in Whiteville they hammer em but blinds are $8000/piece and no one coming off of em.

Yep, my biggest issues with getting on one is finding an open spot and paying the arm and leg these people ask for. Thought Id try and start now, by the time i'm in my 40's I should be on one, hahaha.

You may check for some openings at Cazan's lake and maybe even at Millers near Vidrine.

I know a few people who hunt miller's and they pay a ton to get lottery blinds, i'll ask around and see I know anyone on Cazan's

I hunted a blind at Cazan's last year we killed lots of teal, lots of bootlips, a few greys, a few pintails, and we did good on geese the last weekend of the season but it is the only weekend we goose hunted. We hunted one of the better blinds on the property from what I gather talking to other people. There are too many blinds out there imo but if you know how to scout a good spot you can do decent. PM The Salty Hog he can get you some info on the stuff out there.
