West Cove launch

Well, I took yesterday off and what a bust that was. Ended up not getting to be able to head to the lake until the afternoon. It was windy as sh*t but I figured I would make the trip down there and just see how things looked. Well, it looked like the Atlantic ocean and muddy as hell - I was in my flat boat so I scraped the trip.

I noticed that the West cove launch is gated and the sign indicate it is open from sunrise to sunset. Do they stilck to these times precisely? Will they close the gates on your vehicle if you are still out on the water? Do they go by the sunrise/sunset tables?

Thanks.

The saltwater launch gate stays open unless they close down all launching. Now if you stay out to late you may find a warden waiting on you when you get back. If for some reason you get back late just claim boat trouble.

Here is the rules straight out the rule book http://www.fws.gov/southeast/pubs/SWLAcomplex_Fish.pdf

Boat admittance into the refuge is permitted
from one hour before legal sunrise until one hour after
legal sunset; however, fishing, crabbing, and cast netting
for bait are prohibited until legal sunrise and after legal
sunset.
