Truck Tires

Think i finally decided what tires to go with on my truck. Looks like its gonna be some 295/70/18 Nitto Trail Grapplers. Anybody have any experience with these tires, good or bad??

weedeater 12-21-2011 05:32 PM

none with them tires but check your Ford dealership for a price before you buy....I run 285/75-18 on my 05 truck they are Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac and I saved $400 by buying from Ford .....this size is also same width as factory but alittle taller

Have Goodyear Wrangler Authoritys on my truck and like them.

Used to have them on my work truck. I always liked them and thought they were really quiet

I have the 20" version on my Dodge 1500 4x4 for about 10K miles so far. This is my second set, first was on a Chevy Duramax and I heard they improved them for durability. So far I am pleased w/ this set. I have traction w/o a bunch of road noise, which at my age is a good thing. I can remember as a teenager wanting some co-op's since they sounded good coming down the road.

Co-op was bad azz in the mud.

A few of my buddies run them and my brother has them on his Titan. I like them but I'll take my Mastercraft Courser A/Ts over them anyday.

Can I sayMickey Thompson MTZ's! 65k in highway miles on last set. Just got a second set with 10 k on them now. They pull real good, and are not that noisy on the highway. Nittos wear a little fast, and uneven, but that's most mud terrains if there not properly balanced rotated, and aligned regularly. I'm running them on a 3/4 ton diesel 4x4! Had a set of Michellin's from the factory that lasted 25k, then a set of BF good for nothing's MT's that lasted all of 20k in highway miles. Good luck

I run the Trail Grapplers and have no complaints.

try kelly safari tsr's you'll never buy another tire. kind of like the good year duratrac they are a in between mud and all terrain. they still have a good aggressive look dont hum loud like mud tires and pull pretty damn in in mud. i got 62k out of my last set. ive had just about every mud tire on trucks and in my opinion mud tires arent worth it. if your mostly on the road and dont need mud tires on a weekly basis get a good all terrain. they last longer and dont cost as much as the mudders.

I've got a set of nitto 37" tires on my F250 diesel. Super quiet rolling down the highway at 80. Not much experience with them in the mud. Expect to get about 30k miles out of them.

these are 275/70-18.... I am happy so far and they are actually made for a 3/4, $1000 at Ford

flounder_smacker 12-21-2011 10:27 PM

yeah weedeater i like the duratracks too. kelly is made by goodyear. the safari and duratrack are similar. i almost got the duratracks but i have a friend in the tire business and he gets the kellys really cheap.

LaAngler 12-21-2011 10:43 PM

I've got about 25k mostly city miles on the same truck/tires as weedeater, looks to be about 10k left but wear is even. Just now starting to hum more.

weedeater 12-21-2011 11:03 PM

I liked these since they had a tighter tread pattern down middle and more lug outside....hoping the design makes them last longer then full blown mud tires

BIRD DOG 12-22-2011 12:47 AM

I got 55,000 miles out of a set of Mickey T bajas, thats pretty impressive!
