9.13.11 Good Day on BL

Been on a really great bite the last few weeks. Today went according to plan again. Got all our trout in one spot this morning. We finished our limit of specks at 9:00 then after catching and releasing a few more for a while, we went in search of some flounder. Found 3 flounder and a Red to add to the pile before heading in around 11:00. Specks were caught on Sand Eels and the flounder and accidental rubberlip were caught on Gulp Swimming Mullets. The water seemed to be green and salty almost everywhere today.

damn and you caught a 3tail! Took me more than 5 years to get a 3tail and only a couple days for the flounder! You'll definitely get one, odds seem to be in your favor lol

Good job baseballfisherman!! jealous of your consistent bite... lol

PaulMyers 09-13-2011 03:37 PM

Yes I actually was wearing white crocs AND white Costas  The fish seem to be drawn to the white so I'm sticking with it...

And Duck Butter...Rubberlip = Redfish (they have tough mouths). I said it was an accident bc very rarely do I ever target reds unless whoever is with me requests them, therefore I consider it an accident when I catch one.

I like it!

Got an uncle who goes with a guide at least once a year and only targets reds! Gives all the trout away to the others!

Most of the time when I'm asked to target reds (nothing wrong with redfish, I'm just addicted to trout), my response is "I don't think we have those in Big Lake, so we are gonna catch trout instead" :D

BIGJ 09-13-2011 05:24 PM

Nice catch

My favorite thing to do when I guide every now and then, is when a client (out of towners) asks for redfish, to do everything in my power to convince them that there are no redfish in our lake (jokingly of course). That's usually about the time when we get on a good trout bite and they manage to pull the one redfish in the area out of the water and they get the bug to go after more!
