8.23.11 BL Quick Limit

Only took one stop this morning to fill the ice chest. Stopped on my first spot and it was on! Had our 2 man limit at 9:30 and caught and released for about an hour or so afterwards. Made the morning easy and very enjoyable. All fish caught on Sparkle Beetles, Super Spooks, and She Dogs. The water in the lake was pristine and it was a lot of fun watching those purple backs shine as they stalked our topwaters. Caught some quality size fish today, one of which i missed that cracked my super spook in half! I never had that happen before but I literally caught one fish on that brand new spook before it got crushed to pieces. I'm considering taking it back to the store with the receipt! Those topwaters aren't cheap! Has anyone else had any experience with a spook cracking or breaking after only a fish or two? Never had any issues with the Mirrolure plugs...

Same thing happened to me weekend before last. Brand new spook, prob caught 3-4 fish. Hook another one broke my super spook all the way down the middle. Cheaply made I guess.

I had the same happen to me. Pulled the first set of treble hooks out and split it straight down the middle!

BaseballFisherman 08-23-2011 05:05 PM

Yea that's what mine did. I just tied it on this morning, caught one fish then the next one cracked it right down the middle and the head of it was smashed to pieces. I like the action of the spook better than the mirrolures, but I have never seen any hard bait shatter like that and its making me want to go back to my she dog....i have she dogs with no paint left on them and rusted hooks that are still catching fish

I have never had a spook break on me. Have had the hooks pull out of the bait. The newer ones DON'T hold paint.

I have had 1 she dog split on me.

Agree 100% they don't make em like they used too.

Great catch

Nice early limit

BaseballFisherman 08-23-2011 08:05 PM

That was quite sneaky. I was parked in exactly the same place I'll be tomorrow! Haha

Nice job.

Never had one break. Paint does seem to come off more than it used to. Try Mustad treble hooks if you feel like replacing them. Nice trip though! Man I need to go bad.

Yea but catching fish on a brand new 6 dollar lure would have been even better lol. Oh well, money well spent just seeing a big trout explode on it and smash it to pieces....literally!
