Need some cash..Post from P-cola..jk

Hey my Salty Friends, a report from Paradise....Been gone for awhile but hopefully I'll be here more often in de' future...

Life is good in de' Panhandle of Fl........If any of you Salties find your-crazy-selves over my way, send me a pm for a day on de' water or just a cold beer over looking de' gulf to share a tale or two. SO, here's my report!!!!

My buddy Chris called me last week from Jacksonville Fl and asked if I would take him and his fiance' fishing. Haven't seen Chris in two years since he deployed to the sand box so, I was pretty excited to re-unite for a fishing trip and meet his first wife to be Caroline.

As excited I was to take them I was a bit concerned about putting them on fish with my abscence from fishing the gulf for over 3 months. Many reasons for that but glad to be back out on the water.

After reading the weekend reports of strong currents and the full moon, I advised Chris the bite may not be so hot along with a strong current. Chris said he just wanted to get Caroline out in the gulf and didn't matter if we filled the box.

The current prevailed for fishing on anchor so I used the motor to keep our lines vertical.

We managed our limit of mingos and I was happy to be able to jig up a few Aj's for Caroline to finish off the fight. Caroline and Chris really enjoyed themselves and as the true indicator from my hypothesis..Quote from Caroline: "My arms hurt so much"!!!! lol Caroline was a real trooper all day!!!

I wish them both a life of love, enjoyment of one another and many more fishing trips together.

Caroline feeling the Aj pain, sorry no pics of the Aj's as my phone overheated sittin in the sun.http://www.gulfcoastfishingconnectio...c/banghead.gif

Didn't know what a Mingo was , just looked it up- a Vermillion snapper. How far out did you go for them?

Glad to see you put them on the fish Jimmy. And thanks for taking care of our warriors.

Sorry for the late reply!

82whaler, Thanks for the reply buddy!

I met Chris here serving as a Navy Rescue Diver in 2007 and has 29 rescues to his name during Katrina. I use to take him and his buddy offshore and when they offered up $$ for expenses, I would tell them this was my way to say thanks to our service men for all you do.

His buddy was also a rescue diver and progressed to flight engineer. I am always proud to hv them aboard for a fun day on the Gulf. Chris now flies some type of drone servailance planes in the private sector. Pretty cool stories he told during our last fishing trip.

Tips Catching Vermillion Snapper aka Mingo

Bait: cut squid, less is better in smaller chunks, larger chunks for scamp.

:can be found in as little as 60' here off the Panhandle of Florida on natural bottom with a size limit of 10" / 10 per person but the larger ones referred to as "footballs", or "mongo mingos" are found in 165' or deeper.

The average distance from the pass to find this depth is 24 miles or greater.

To the fella with the wife wanting to relocate here, what are you waiting for man? Look me up and we'll share a beer next time you're over my way.

Thanks for all the replies, makes posting that much more fun...

Tight lines to all over in de' swamp!!!

Jimmy
