Update to accident

Guys, first I want to thank each and every one of you for the thoughts and prayers. I have sent my sister all the messages and PM's from my friends here and she and her husband immediately busted into tears.

My sister was remarried 5 years ago and this was actually her stepdaughter's child, but it was just like her own blood! Since this little girl was born, everyone in her family has healed some wounds and grown together as a family. My niece and nephew had some serious issues involving an ugly divorce, which seemed to all melt away when little Lucy came into their lives. Christy's stepdaughter is only 20, unmarried and became pregnant at 18. The young mother was trying to do the right thing and finish her education having put her schooling on hold while she had the baby. Everyone was pitching in, and the little girl stayed w/ my sisiter and her husband quite a bit during the last few months. I have only met Lucy on a few occassions, but she stole your heart in a moments notice. I have never met the father, which from what I have been told has had a rough life and I am not going pass judgment on anyone that I don't know.

Apparently, the dad was driving at a high rate of speed (according to the investigating officer), lost control on a gravel road and struck a tree. They were on the way to pick up Lucy's mother at school after she finished her test. He has had surgeries for fractures to all extremities, and burns to 40% of his body, as well as a ruptured spleen and possible lacerated liver.

Right now, they are doing ok and handling their arrangements. Again, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts and prayers. I'm hoping they can begin the healing process quickly, but right now it's in God's hands.

Also, if the dad survives, he is facing severe charges. If the toxicology reports come back with anything other than clean, he will be charged with manslaughter. If it is clean, he will be charged w/ negligent homicide as well other charges.
