LA lift laws

My dad told me that they are going to tighten down on the lift laws on trucks. I know there is a law already, but they are going to lower the height. Anyone else heard anything regarding this?

I haven't heard anything about it. I may need to check into this because I'm getting ready to purchase a 6" lift for a Ford Bronco.

Last time I checked, the bottom of your headlights cannot be above 52 inches. Truck can be as high as you want. Also, your tires are not supposed to stick out over one inch past the fender, I know, got a ticket for that one. Had to add 3 inch fender flares to my truck and they weren't cheap.

Realistically to be legal you can have about 16 inches of lift max on a vehicle depending on tire size

Red Devil 07-01-2011 09:39 PM

Louisiana
It's a headlight state. No matter what kind of motor vehicle you drive, the lights can't be higher than 54 inches. Alter the suspension however you deem fit, as long as the lights are up to code. Foglights can't be higher than 30 inches from the ground. For more information, check out www.louisiana.gov

Wat I'm saying is on most trucks 54 inches is bout 16 or maybe 17 inches of lift....believe me my friend installs lifts for a living and he won't put anything bigger than that on a full sized truck...my buddy has a 2009 gmc sierra z with a 12 inch suspension 3 inch body and keys and leveling kit with 42's and his lights are right at 55-56 lil bit over but has never been hassled bout it

Ive had many lifted trucks over the years and nothing was ever an issue. My buddy has an F150 with 22inches of lift, they messed with him one time for his headlights and it was b/c somebody called cops on him goin down Gause Blvd. Cops told him to move headlights to bumper or dont drive at night. He didnt and still drives at night.Im sure it depends on your parish and what their fruit about!Seems to me like they should be more worried about the cutlass's runnin around with lifts painted like a candybar!

iron man 07-01-2011 10:37 PM

Just saw a Impala with 24s and 3 TVs in the back and the super bright headlights. He wanted to race me at a red light, so I goosed it in neutral it for about a second and let off, shifting to drive and went on about my business. My cop buddy Duane was radaring right down the road, clocked him doing 95 in a 45. He was drunk Duane said, and he had his 3 year old son, unbuckled in the front.

I heard that they would start tightening up by lowering the max height. I'm planning on going up 2 or 3 inches and running 33 a/ts. I'm not big on lifts.
