Lasik eye surgery

Looking for advice. I am 25 years old. Wanting to get laser surgery. unfortunately, my insurance does not cover it. I can get this procedure done for $3640.00 for both eyes. Has anyone here had this and is it worth this amount of money ?

I've worn contacts and glasses for 20 years.

My blind buddy did it and said it was the best thing he's ever done. No more contacts and glasses.

One of my good friends had it done and said it was the best money he's ever spent.

I'm thinking about going that route myself. I'm sick and tired of wearing contacts. My eyes feel as dry as a desert and have always been real scratchy ever since. I've tried many kinds of contacts and its always the same feeling.

i know a guy who did it and he has no regrets ....

i feel your pain, were in the same boat. I hate waking up at 2am to go fishing and putting in contacts. Or having one fold while ur in the boat and there is only beer and powerade in the ice chest and your having to put the contact back in with Big lake water... :pissed:

In baton rouge it's 999 an eye if you have astigmatism
799 an eye if you dont

Got mine done in 2004. BEST MONEY I ever spent. Dr. singer in Metairie did mine. $799.00 an eye. WELL worth the money. Actually the pre surgery Valium was worth the $799.00 per eye.

All I can say is that my dad was a doctor and one of his close doctor friends who is a local Opthamologist told me to wait as long as you can, meaning after the age of 50 or later because they did not really know what the long term effects of the surgery. meaning if you have it done in your 20s and 30 years later????????

I had it done about 4 years ago. It is the best thing I have ever done. I could see perfectly just hours after the surgery. The surger takes 20 minutes and is pain free.

My only advice would be not to go to someone that advertises speical rates on the radio or anything like that. These are your eyes and you only have 1 pair so go to someone that lets their work speak for itself and they don't need to advertise regularly. The doctor I chose was recommended to me by another doctor that had work done by him. I figure if one doc. trusts another doc. he must be good.

thats my options im weighing........

Note: IF I finance this for 5 years, im paying almost double===$5,900 for 2 eyes

I had it done 5 years ago. I got tired of the glasses and contacts. Best $2,500 I ever spent. The $3,640 sounds high. Where is this at? I did mine in Baton Rouge with DR Fay and I was very happy with everything. I still have 20-20 vision.
Good Luck!

Jordan, I look at it like this......few things are more important to you than your eyesight. I had LASIK done about 10 years ago. I'm damn near 100 and ain't never wore glasses. Dr. Steven Brint in Metarie is one of the pioneers of this procedure but he is expensive. Dr. Singer that Blue mentioned is probably your best option but, when it comes to my eyes, I'm getting the best. No matter the price...it's money well spent.
